Fish Use of Our Health

Written By Low Fat High Protein Foods on Minggu, 28 Desember 2008 | 22.11

By: PRABAKAR S

Scientists attribute Fish Foods heart-healthy effects to several different mechanisms. Studies have suggested that omega-3 fatty acids can lower triglyceride levels, reduce platelet aggregation or clumping, and improve functioning of the cells that line the heart and blood vessels.

But the Circulation report provides evidence to support yet another mechanism - regulation of the heart beat. Technically, its called an anti-arrhythmic effect, meaning that it reduces the occurrence of irregular heartbeats. Scientists think fish food may help regulate the heart beat by reducing the production of thromboxane A2, a substance that promotes clotting and blood vessel constriction, and by various effects on many of the bodys enzymes and receptors.

You can increase your consumption of omega-3 fatty acids by increasing your fish intake; dark meat fish like mackerel, salmon, sardines, bluefish, and swordfish are the most concentrated sources, with an average of 1.51 grams of omega-3s per serving. Most other fish, including canned tuna, provide about .45 grams per serving, while shrimp, lobster and scallops contain about .32 grams per serving.

But the Circulation study also shows that you can use Fish Food supplements to get benefits as well - and it doesnt take mega-doses to do it. The one gram per day used in the study is a relatively low dose, and it showed an effect in a highly vulnerable population - in just a few months. You can find omega-3 supplements in just about any health food store or vitamin supplier.

Fish food may not be the latest fashion, but the message from these studies is clear: Theres even more evidence that the omega-3 fatty acids found in fish food can help keep your heart healthy and strong - whether youre male or female, looking to prevent the first signs of heart disease or treating an existing condition. Eat Greens for Fat Loss

Written By Low Fat High Protein Foods on Jumat, 27 Juni 2008 | 17.02

By: YURI ELKAIM

When it comes to fat loss and losing weight there is an overwhelming amount of information. If you’re like most people who want to lose weight you may feel somewhat bewildered and confused by all the diet and nutrition advice given by so many different fat loss experts. The tough part is that much of this advice overlooks the basic physiological premise for weight loss and long-term health alkalinity! Our bodies operate within fine pH equilibrium. If we are too acidic, we invite disease and fatness to grow rampant. 2-time Nobel Prize winner, Dr. Linus Pauling, was the first to show to that cancer cannot grow in an alkaline environment. Many years later, though, most people have no idea what being alkaline means.

Being alkaline means not being acidic. The most important bodily tissue our blood requires a slightly alkaline pH to operate perfectly. If not, red blood cells begin to die, coagulate, and expel their waste into the blood. Oxygen transport to the cells becomes compromised and the body begins removing dangerous acid out from the blood and storing in our fat cells.

The body’s fat cells hold onto this acid as a protective mechanism since acid in the blood or vital organs can be lethal. Therefore, your ability to burn fat is related to your body’s acid-alkaline balance. You will find it very hard lose fat if you are acidic. It’s simple your body needs to keep the fat around to hold onto to the acid. Once the acid lessens, the fat will follow.

So when you hear experts promoting high protein diets or other similar weight loss gimmicks you need to ask yourself if the foods they promote are acid or alkaline-forming in the body. For instance, all animal products (meat, dairy, eggs) are acid-forming in the body. Most grains and refined sugars are as well. A diet high in these foods can only result in an acidic body.

It has been said that our diet should be 80% alkaline and 20% acidic. However, I’m sure you can see that the Western diet - full of its processed, refined, and high fat foods - is the exact opposite. It’s no wonder that obesity is such a problem in Westernized countries.

So what foods are alkaline-forming?

Fruits and vegetables. The reason for this is that they are abundant in alkalizing minerals such as calcium, potassium, iron, and magnesium while possessing lower concentrations of acidifying properties such as sulfur and nitrogen.

The best sources of alkalinity of all foods are greens. Grasses, green vegetables, and sea vegetables are some examples. A diet rich in green foods will not only help prevent the onset of disease but it will keep you thin.

As you incorporate more green foods into your diet you will become more alkaline displacing needless acid and improving your fat loss efforts. Think about it how many overweight vegans or vegetarians do you know? Obviously being vegetarian doesn’t guarantee weight loss because many of these people can also have atrocious diets. However, their chance of staying thin is far better than someone who eats burgers and other garbage foods.

How to alkalize your body?

Eat for health and you will alkalize your body and lose weight. Here are 4 strategies to help you alkalize your body for optimal fat loss (and health) results:

1. Eat more fruits and vegetables and get plenty of greens. My rule of thumb is to consume at least 1 green juice and/or salad each day.

2. Drink plenty of water. You should drink at least half your body weight (lbs) in ounces each day.

3. Breathe! Take a few minutes each day and focus on deep breathing. Oxygen is alkalizing.

4. Minimize and avoid processed foods, artificial sweeteners, and nutrition-deficient drinks like coffee and sodas.

The Secret to Weight Loss: The No-Diet Plan to Lose Weight and Keep it Off

Written By Low Fat High Protein Foods on Senin, 23 Juni 2008 | 07.23

By: KRISTIN VAN TILBURG

You want to know the secret to weight loss? Why diets work for some, but not for others? The truth is we don’t have just one mouth to feed; we have four. Aside from our physical bodies, we have a mental, emotional and spiritual body, all of whom equally require nourishment. If any of our bodies are not fed, we will feel unsatisfied and head for the refrigerator.

Satisfying each body depends on our ability to accurately answer the question, what am I hungry for? By knowing what each of our bodies is hungry for, we can give each what it needs. The desire to consume will then no longer consume us. For example, the emotional body is satisfied by attention and awareness. Its purpose is to provide information and direction in making decisions. To lose weight, you can nourish the emotional body by reading the messages of your emotions and respecting their guidance. If ignored, these messages will get louder, and you will use food to stuff them down. But eating never satisfies the cravings of the emotional body. When we disregard the emotional body’s communications, we become overweight, hate ourselves, and feel frustrated.

Conversely, if we allow our emotions to deliver their messages and make choices based on their guidance, we will no longer crave the chips or cookies. Instead, our lives will reflect our highest selves, and we will experience new levels of joy and satisfaction.

The mental body is nourished by meaning. It analyzes problems, and devises action plans to help us achieve our goals. We form beliefs, rules, judgments and decisions to assist us in deciding what the events in our lives mean. As we have new experiences, it may be necessary to rethink our beliefs, rules, judgments and attitudes. By changing our minds, we automatically change our lives. Allow yourself to flow with the process of life. Meaning is born out of this flow. When life is meaningful, it becomes fulfilling.

The spiritual body is nourished by inspiration. To inspire means to affect, guide, or arouse by divine influence. Divine influence is experienced through vision, purpose, passion, and intuition, all of which are forms of higher guidance. Inspiration points to the next step on the path. It provides the motivation to move forward, try again, risk, or make that leap of faith. To lose weight, be open to inspiration. Listen to the silence, meditate, pray or commune with nature, and maintain a sincere desire to receive.

The Living Lean Lifestyle program will show you how to lose weight by living close to the core of your being. Discover how to obtain full awareness of your needs and learn how to satisfy them. As you master the awareness and skills that nourish each of your four bodies, your relationship to food will transform. Instead of living to eat, you will eat to live. Excess weight will drop away. The fulfillment and satisfaction of the Living Lean Lifestyle will then be yours. http://www.kristinvantilburg.com/

Anti Aging Nutrition

Written By Low Fat High Protein Foods on Kamis, 12 Juni 2008 | 00.06

By: DONALD YACONO

The proper anti aging nutrition plan can drastically lessen the effects of the natural aging process. There are certain preventative measures you can take to reduce the risk of osteoporosis, heart disease, memory loss, and other common conditions associated with older age. This is our plan of attack to fight the effects of aging:

Eat Fiber Rich Foods!

Your anti aging nutrition plan must contain a healthy serving of fiber. You've probably heard this before, but it can never be stressed enough. Fiber is essential to maintaining a healthy colon. It is recommended that you consume approximately thirty five grams per day. This will help you to avoid problems such as constipation, obesity, colon cancer, high blood sugar, heart disease, and high cholesterol. An example of some high Fiber foods are whole grain breads, bran cereals, oat bran, wheat pasta, brown rice, fresh or dried fruits, berries, broccoli, spinach, peas, beans, nuts, and seeds.

Load Up On Antioxidants!

Antioxidants are substances that protect cells from damage caused by unstable molecules also known as free radicals. It is believed that this cellular tissue damage may lead to cancer. Which antioxidants to look for? Glad you asked.

Vitamin A is found in milk, carrots, sweet potatoes, liver, and egg yolks. Vitamin C also known as ascorbic acid is in orange juice, fruits, beef, and cereals. Vitamin E is found in wheat germ, nuts, broccoli, mangos, and almonds. Lycopene is a strong antioxidant found in tomatoes, apricots pink grapefruit, and watermelon. Beta-carotene is found in sweet potatoes, squash, cantaloupe, mangos, and green leafy vegetables. Lutein is present in spinach and collard greens.

Eat More Fish!

Fish is high in protein and Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids. Omega 3 is believed to help reduce your risk of coronary heart disease and sudden cardiac death. The American Heart Association recommends that we should eat fish at least 2 times a week. Omega 3 is found in salmon, herring, anchovies, and tuna.

Take Vitamin B, D, and K Supplements!

Take extra Vitamin B such as folic acid, B6, and B12. These three vitamins reduce the amount of homocysteine in the bloodstream. High homocysteine levels are associated with heart disease.

Vitamin D is well known to help the body absorb calcium. People who take more Vitamin D are less likely to suffer from osteoporosis. Research has determined that it also slows the effects of arthritis. Studies also show that Vitamin D reduces the severity of back pain.

Vitamin K is known to regulate calcium throughout the body. Researchers have found that it helps to keep calcium out of the arteries, preventing arteriosclerosis. That's our anti aging nutrition plan in a nutshell. Good Luck!

The Relationship between Heart Disease and Kidney Disease

Written By Low Fat High Protein Foods on Sabtu, 07 Juni 2008 | 03.25

By: DAVID COWLEY

When you suffer from some type of heart disease, maintaining a healthy lifestyle can be very difficult. We all need to eat healthy, maintain a good regular exercise routine and have regular checkups from our health care provider. When heart disease is not managed well the effects on our kidneys can be catastrophic.

The kidneys job is to filter the blood to remove carcinogens that we take in daily through the ingesting of out highly refined and processed foods. In addition it also removes excess fluid from the blood stream. The kidneys filter the waist products from the blood stream by using the natural pressure of the blood supply. When this excess fluid is not being removed then the heart will have to work harder to pump the blood throughout our bodies by increasing our blood pressure. Higher blood pressure will cause more damage to our kidneys causing less fluid and toxins being removed from the blood stream. As you can see the cycle of the heart damaging the kidneys which in turn cause more damage to the heart is a leading cause of death for patients suffering from heart disease. This viscous cycle must be control as soon as possible before permanent damage is done to the effected organs.

The leading causes of kidney disease are as follows:

Decreased blood flow to the kidney is usually caused by clogged arteries. Arteriosclerosis, congestive heart disease, plaques or fatty deposits containing large quantities of cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood stream can all cause a decreased blood flow to the kidneys.

Acute Tubular Necrosis (ATN) is the death of tissue do to a loss of oxygen to the kidney. Long term decreased of oxygen to the kidney can be caused by congestive heart disease, clogged arteries, anemia, iron deficiency, cycle’s cell anemia and infections such as acute septicemia. Short term loss of oxygen to the kidney can be caused a heart attack or by direct kidney injury.

Damage to the kidneys can be the result of over exposure to metals, solvents, drugs and other pollutants.

Excessive amounts of alcohol will cause death of muscle and organ tissue. When tissue dies myoglobin is released into the blood supply. Myoglobin is very toxic to the renal tubular epithelium and may cause kidney failure. One of the blood test done after a heart attack is the testing for the amount of myoglobin in the blood stream. The larger amount of myoglobin found has a direct correlation to the amount of damage caused to the heart muscle by a heart attack.

High blood pressure will also cause damage to the filtering process of the kidneys. Prevention is always better than a cure and knowing you are at risk for heart or kidney disease should go a long way in your ability to prevent long term damage to these vital organs. Take steps today to maintain a health life style and to improve the quality of life.

Common vitamins and minerals can help with preventing disease such as vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin C, vitamin E, Cranberry Juice, Natural diuretics and Garlic.

Vitamin A is a known antioxidant and can assist the human body in the healing process. Vitamin A is stored in the liver and fat cells of the human body and can reach toxic levels. DO NOT take more than the recommended dosage of Vitamin A.

Vitamin B taken together as a team perform vital biological processes including aiding in the healing process for congestive heart failure and reduces fluid retention. It is required for the development of red blood cells.

Vitamin C has been shown to combat the development of cholesterol deposits in the arteries. Within a few hours after receiving vitamin C patients showed a sharp decline in the cholesterol levels of the blood. Take 1,000 to 5,000 mg daily.

Vitamin E is known to help the red blood cells to live longer and keep them from breaking down too soon.

Cranberry Juice may also help prevent kidney and bladder infections. If you are taking COUMADIN then check with your doctor before using cranberry.
Natural diuretics are contained in cranberries, anything that has caffeine and apple cider vinegar. Fruits and vegetables such as watermelon and cucumbers contain a lot of water and will help increase urination.

Garlic counteracts the usual result of high fats in the diet and to help reduce high blood pressure.

This report is nutritional in nature and not to be construed as medical advice.
Always consult your doctor before using this information.

Most major supermarket chains carry fresh ginger root, and if they do not chances are the local organic grocery store or health food store does carry this herb. When choosing ginger, it is important to choose those roots that are firm, and that have a distinct aroma. Fortunately, in most parts of the country fresh ginger root is available year round, so finding it should not be a problem for most shoppers.
